Who Is Tom Hurd?
Hi! My name is Tom Hurd. I’m a family man, investor, business owner, musician, and entrepreneur.
I have been trading futures since 1999 and this Short option strategy since 2006. I was a FINRA-licensed Series 3 Commodity Trading Advisor and now I trade my own money.
I have written several books about trading, a successful mindset, getting out of debt, and spirituality. They are available on Amazon if you search books by Thomas Hurd.
I am passionate about teaching and dedicated to helping individuals discover the essential tools they need to achieve their financial goals responsibly.

My Story...
I was once a struggling entrepreneur, trying to discover the keys that would unlock the secrets of wealth and prosperity into my life.
I tried several businesses. I tried investing in the stock market, the futures market, the forex market the currency market, bitcoin, buying and selling cars, AMWAY… you name it, I probably tried it.
Most of these ventures had one thing in common. I never made any money doing them. As a matter of fact, I lost money each time.
I was in my late thirties and in the construction business. I was holding my own financially but I was dreaming of a change.
Rather than having to physically be on the job every day; How could I make an income, either from home on the computer or maybe even sitting on a beach somewhere?
I knew there were people out there doing it.
At about this time, I learned about options trading on the commodities market. I was intrigued. I started reading all the information I could get my hands on. I learned all about options buying.
I never even thought about option selling.
I thought you just bought them from the options exchange. Kind of like walking into Walmart and buying something off the shelf. It never occurred to me that there were actual real people, traders themselves, who were selling me the options I was buying.
All the options information I could get my hands on talked exclusively about buying options. The only time selling was mentioned was in the context of “Never do this, it’s much too risky, and by the way, you need millions of dollars to be an option seller.”

As I reflect back on this, it almost seems as if The sellers just wanted to teach more newbies to buy the options they would be selling. Crazy thought, right? As I continued to lose money buying options, (though only a little bit at a time!) LOL. I kept researching the concept of selling options. I was fascinated by it!
I wished and dreamt of the day I had millions of dollars so I could finally be an option seller and make money like the Professionals do.
All my reading and research finally paid off. I discovered that even as a small, very small, private investor I could indeed sell options! This was like a revelation!
The seas parted, and angels sang the hallelujah chorus!
I started paper trading like a madman!
After many weeks of paper trading I could see that this system was incredible. I'd never seen anything work so well and consistently before. I was blown away.
I knew it was time to start using real money and put this to the ultimate test.
On Monday I sent a check to my broker and as soon as the money cleared I placed my first option sale. I sold 1 option contract of Rough Rice. Why rough rice? It was the lowest margin amount required and pretty much all I could afford.
I sold it with about 30 days until expiration and received $50 in option premium. I then sat on pins and needles watching that chart every day.
Finally, it expired worthless. I won!! I almost couldn’t believe it actually worked. I was elated, you would have thought I won the lottery!
I had finally made money, albeit, a small win, but a win just the same!
As I continued trading this way my account actually started to grow! What a concept! I was really, truly making money in the market!
That is how I started down this path and to this day 20 years later this is the only strategy that has consistently put money in my pocket month after month, year after year.
